NCTJ student representative

Jan

This is just a reminder that I need the undergraduates to have collectively selected an NCTJ representative by tomorrow by whatever means necessary. If not, I'll have to lock you all in a room in the morning until white smoke emerges.

As I’m sure you are all aware, the BBC is facing severe protests outside Broadcasting House amid calls for it to air an appeal to the British public to help those in need in Gaza.

Ballack and Lampard Secure Nervy Chelsea's Progress

Jan
24

The 3-1 score line betrays what a close game this was. Chelsea may have ran out 3-1 winners over Ipswich, but for a large part of the game it looked as if a replay was on the cards.

Michael Ballack connected with Ashley Cole’s cross to give Chelsea the lead. But then Alex Bruce capitalised on some poor Chelsea defending to level the score.

Ballack scored his second from a free kick and Frank Lampard followed suit in the dying moments to ensure that Luiz Felipe Scolari’s men will be in the mix for the next round.

The council rich list - a town hall scandal - or something else?

Jan
24

The Taxpayers' Alliance has established itself as a high-profile campaign group dedicated to shining a spotlight on public sector spending. On Friday Jan 23, it published its lastest survey of how councils are apparently spending too much of our/your money on middle managers. Our version of the story on kent online can be seen here. You can see from the readers' comments that this kind of thing touches a raw nerve among some. Are they justified?

Improving our voices, all good fun!

Jan

Found a really cool thing on the Sky News website which allows you to practise reading the news. If you have a webcam in your computer, all you have to do is align your face with the circle, choose your speed to read off the autocue and you're away!

Helpful for voice practise and fun too!
