New Year Resolution

I find it frustrating that we gain a dress size over Christmas, just to be told by Weightwatchers adverts in January that we need to lose five. Masses of people are being convinced to join the gym for fear of never being happy. Yet, I still find myself making a New Year Resolution about quitting smoking in 2013, and I hate myself for it.

Other than the fact that nicorette and the NHS are telling me that I should be stopping, I find my peers pressuring me into quitting. That's right. I am subjected to peer pressure over quitting.

Fewer than 10 complaints: Do Press-orchestrated Moral Panics even mean anything anymore?

I don't know if you saw Channel 4's 'The Big Fat Quiz of the Year 2012' Programme last week. If not, there's a link for it below:

I leave this, not to offend, but in true Daily Mail style, so that you can judge the offensiveness of the jokes before you decide how offended you should be by something you may or may not have seen over a week ago.

American newspaper reveals gun permit holders after Newtown shootings - Crossing the line?

In the aftermath of the Newtown shootings, The Journal News, an American news website, published the names and addresses of hand gun permit owners in New York’s Westchester and Rockland Counties. The interactive map pinpoints the exact location of residents able to hand guns; however the model of hand gun is no specified. Did Journal News cross a line uncovering gun permit owners to the rest of the world, or is it a justified way of revealing America’s growing addiction to fire arms?

Piers Morgan: Merry Christmas! Even to those who want me deported!

This week, there has been over 64,000 signatures on a petition to send Piers Morgan back to the UK, for targeting the Second Amendment, in what has been deemed as a “hostile attack against the U.S. Constitution” (https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/deport-british-citizen-piers-m...). The petition calls for Mr. Morgan to be deported immediately for his calls for new weapons restrictions following the Newton school shootings.
