The Media Section in the Communications Section at the UN Human Rights Office in Geneva seeks an intern with excellent research skills, a good understanding of global media and fluency in English. The ideal candidate would be able to work independently, with minimal supervision, in compiling daily press clippings relevant to the Office's work; in monitoring the media to study the impact that our press products have; and in undertaking other tasks, including research, as assigned by the Media Officers and Spokesperson. Knowledge of human rights would be a plus and some knowledge of French is desirable. The intern should be able to work efficiently and speedily, as the work of this unit is highly time-sensitive.

Interns in the Media Section get excellent exposure to the work of the entire office and will be able to participate in the biweekly UN Spokespersons' briefings, press conferences, meetings of the Human Rights Council and some internal discussions about the issues and strategies of the Office.

The internship, which is full-time, would begin around 11 April 2018 and last up to six months (minimum three months). Please see below the eligibility requirements. The internship is unpaid, as the UN Human Rights Office is not permitted by UN General Assembly to pay interns.

To apply, please send a cover letter and CV to both and by 5 March 2018. To learn more about the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), please visit
