The Media Unit in the Communications Section at the UN Human Rights Office seeks an intern with excellent research skills, a good understanding of global media and fluency in English. The ideal candidate would be able to work independently, with minimal supervision, in compiling daily press clippings relevant to the Office's work; in monitoring the media to study the impact that our press products have; and in undertaking other tasks, including research, as assigned by the Media Officers and Spokesperson. Knowledge of human rights would be a plus and some knowledge of French is desirable. The intern should be able to work efficiently and speedily, as the work of this unit is highly time-sensitive.

Interns in the Media Unit get excellent exposure to the work of the entire office and will be able to participate in the biweekly UN Spokespersons' briefings, press conferences, meetings of the Human Rights Council and some internal discussions about the issues and strategies of the Office.

The internship, which is full-time, would begin around the end of September 2017 and last up to six months (minimum three months). To be eligible, the candidate must be enrolled as a student in a graduate degree programme for the full duration of the internship. The internship is unpaid.

To apply, please send a cover letter and CV to both and by 5 September 2017. To learn more about the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), please visit
